Thanks to Doug Herr for reminding all of us Bay Area Luggers about the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory's 25th Anniversary celebration out at Fort Cronkite last weekend. I spent some time late Sunday morning shooting some volunteers hosted by Native Bird Connections (http://www.nativebirds.org). They were all beautiful, with some pretty wild stories: the peregrine falcon (http://www.nativebirds.org/1419/3571.html) flew to Bay Area on Delta Airlines from Milwaukee, the Swainson's hawk (1999, http://www.nativebirds.org/1419/3553.html) ran into a car belonging to a field biologist studying him, the Rough Legged hawk (http://www.nativebirds.org/1419/3544.html) came here from Wyoming after loosing a wing in a collision with a car, and the female Red Tailed hawk (http://www.nativebirds.org/1419/1715.html) who is, unlike most Bay Area residents, a local girl.
There were also two beautiful birds from another organization, a kiteand a male Red Tailed hawk.
